Net Zero, Energy-Efficient Home
by Barbara Loraine
Zero net energy home generates the energy it uses – so it nets zero.
That means carbon dioxide savings, too.
If these homeowners are conservative in energy use, they will have no energy bill.
The architect says that thick double walls that are well insulated can cut down on energy use, too. It keeps out the cold – or hot – air from the environment out.
What about energy savings for existing homes? Structural changes to walls won’t work, but increasing insulation and sealing leaks will improve energy use dramatically.
